This session, or these sessions I should say, were great! Andrew’s original date that we scheduled got rained out. So, we had him and his mom come to the house anyway to get the studio portion done. It all worked out wonderfully! I must say, it is nice splitting the outside and inside portion of a session between two days. The senior has a little breather between the two and it was nice knowing we could take our time and really get some awesome photographs!

Here, our cute little Chicken is getting a bath. She’s the last kitten of the litter yet to find a home 🙂 She’s very spunky, naughty, and cuddly… when she feels like it!

Jennifer and Charles were adorable!
When Jennifer called me a few months ago to book this session, I was thinking to myself, “wow, here’s a girl that knows what she wants and plans ahead!” Boy, did the months fly by! It’s always exciting when a couple is expecting their first child. I can honestly say, it is an honor to be a part of the experience, knowing that they will be looking back at these portraits remembering the excitement and anticipation of the first addition to their family.
I have so many more favorites. But, the couple is saving those just for themselves! 🙂

Okay, so we got in a bit of trouble this morning taking this picture.
To our surprise, you need a memo to take pictures anywhere on base. We were originally thinking the rules were the same as on any other base (pictures of anything but the flight line and the front gate are fine). Imagine our curiosity when the base police came 🙂 We photographers are always getting into trouble! I never would have thought taking pictures was such an issue when I originally decided that I wanted to get a photography degree.
In any case, before we were asked to leave 🙂 we got our picture! I decided to take four exposures so that I could do an HDR later when we got home. I think it turned out wicked. I used HDR Efex Pro, which I finally purchased today. It’s the best HDR software that I’ve used, so it was well worth the money. I used the program to make two versions of the image, one for the sky and one for the foreground. Then I blended the two.
I also did a lot more effects, tonal adjustments, curves, saturation changes etc. I wanted to give it a painted feel.
Here’s the final product…

The Highland Bullets!
Yes, I’ve gotten a little behind on the blog! It seems like there is never enough time in the day! Though, it’s really a good thing, because it means I’m staying busy.
Last Tuesday, I had the opportunity to take the team pictures and a few individual portraits for the Highland Bullets. Though it had just down poured, the weather cleared up for a nice hour segment for us to get their mini photo session squared away. The boys were too funny heckling each other while they were “up to bat” and I think most of them got their white baseball pants muddy by the end! Sorry about that moms! I suppose they look worse after a game though…

Let’s just say, I’m a little crazy when it comes to photography.
The night before the big trip to Disney World with my brother and
his family and my sister and her family, I had the opportunity to shoot some
awesome baseball portraits. So, even though I had to drive four hours that
evening to get to Warrensburg Missouri to catch a six o’clock flight from
Kansas City, I said, “of course I can do it!”
We got done shooting at 8pm, I had everything uploaded to
the computer and was ready to drive by 9pm. Got to Warrensburg at 1:30 am, left
Warrensburg at 4am to catch our 6am flight… I was exhausted by that evening!
Now, I wouldn’t normally fly out of Kansas City, or go on a
Disney Vacation with my brother’s family. The situation was that my brother had
planned a big family vacation for this summer and, being military, a week after
everything was booked he got deployment orders. Everything being
non-refundable, they asked me to go in his place and help out his wife with the
two and four year old girls! So I took his flight with his family out of Kansas
City! The funny thing of it is, he still wound up being able to go and was able
to meet us at Disney World. Turns out that the break between pre-deployment
training and the actual deployment fell right on the days he had planned his
family vacation… It just figures, doesn’t it? In any case, they got some great
vacation photography out of it, which is to come later…
For now, Baseball!

Couples Session
This was a fun session that my good friend and photographer, Courtney Tompson, had me second shoot. I was a balloon holder, light holder, and one-handed photographer! Though one-handed at times, I got quite a few fun shots to play with!

What’s Fuzzy and Cute? ~Kittens by Rosie Warner Photography~

Rosie Warner Photography has been busy… with kittens!!
Our mama kitty recently had a litter of five kittens. If you’re a cat lover like me, I’m sure you can imagine how hard it would be to watch four little kittens that you’ve played with and taken care of for the past six weeks go home in someone else’s arms. Though, it wasn’t watching them go that broke my heart; it was watching our beloved “mama kitty” cry and search for her babies when they were suddenly nowhere to be found.
I have to admit, to my embarrassment, that when Mama came back from playing in the field to find her babies gone and started a moo like cry as she searched for them in the garage, under the vehicles and all around the yard, I couldn’t help but cry. She was such a good mother to all her babies. It must be hard for puppy and kitten breeders to watch litter after litter leave the nest, along with the sad mama left behind.
Nevertheless! It is so nice to know that we gave them to people who will obviously love them and take good care of them! It was so nice to see how happy the kittens made everyone who came to get them and to see how each kitten’s personality complimented different people. I guess what they say must be true; animals do have a way of choosing their owners!
We decided to keep the smallest of the litter. At the time, he seemed to be the most laid back but, now I’m not so sure. He’s such a little stinker. I couldn’t help but laugh as he chased after Mama, leapt into the air and tried to take a bite at her ear. In retaliation, she put him in a headlock and gave him a bath.
Of Course… since I am a photographer, I couldn’t help but want pictures of them all before they left for their new homes!
This was Butterscotch! She looks like a mini version of her mama.
We called her White Kitty… yes, not very creative 🙂
Little Gracy was the friskiest kitten! She went to a home with a puppy!!! Hope she can hold her own 🙂
And Pepper kitty… He had the widest eyes… sooo cute!

Now for the rest!
I was able to finish the rest of these this afternoon, in between bits of yard work…
